Public Markets, Inc. is the region’s largest producer-only marketplace. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity, we were established to provide healthy, fresh produce, sustainable horticultural products, as well as locally-produced arts and craft wares, to residents of Hamilton County and surrounding areas. We offer entrepreneurs who are hand-making, growing or otherwise creating their own goods a low-cost environment to start, grow and expand their business.
Through our public markets, we encourage commerce, entertainment and trade in downtown Chattanooga and the surrounding region, and have become an icon for the city in terms of cultural diversity, tourism and economic impact. Frommer’s has named us as one of the Top Ten Best Public Markets in America, and Fox News selected our Chattanooga Oktoberfest® as one of the Best Family-Friendly Oktoberfests in the U.S. In 2018 we will be operating 5 weekly markets, as well as our popular Holiday Market series in December.
For local food entrepreneurs needing a commercial kitchen space, we manage the Chattanooga Kitchen, located in the First Tennessee Pavilion.
In addition, we operate Chattanooga WorkSpace – a facility which offers creative professionals private studios and collaboration space at the most affordable rates possible.
We are governed by a Board of Directors, professionally managed by a staff of eight full-time employees and a seasonal support team of nearly three-dozen. We do not receive any local government funding, but primarily rely on the fees from our vendors, members and sponsors to fulfill our mission.
We are grateful to be supported by the following organizations: First Tennessee Foundation, EPB Fiber Optics, Mountain View Auto Group, Erlanger Health System, Tennessee Aquarium, Springer Mountain Farms, Lodge, and Chattanooga Coca-Cola Bottling.
Sundays 11 am -4 pm
First Tennessee Pavilion
Last weekend of April - Sunday before Thanksgiving
The Chattanooga Market, our flagship market and by far the largest, will be going into it's 18th season. In peak season there will be well over 200 vendors offering locally handmade and farmed goods. This market also features weekly themed events, food trucks, and live music. It is one of the central community hubs of the Chattanooga Region.
Saturdays 10 am - 5 pm
Tennessee Aquarium Plaza
Mid March - First Saturday in October
Through a partnership with the Tennessee Aquarium, the River Market provides tourists visiting the aquarium and riverfront district the opportunity to purchase locally handmade goods. This market is a favorite of many of our arts & crafts vendors that cater to the visiting tourists, however can also be a strong market for packaged food vendors.
CAMBRIDGE SQUARE MARKET
Fridays 6 pm -9pm
Cambridge Square, Ooltewah
April - September
This Friday night market takes place in picturesque Cambridge Square, a mixed use development in Ooltewah, TN. The square has a stage for live music, which is one of the focal points of this market. It is also surrounded by a whole host of excellent restaurants, including one of our longtime Chattanooga Market vendors, Lupi's Pizza.
Fridays 10:30 am - 1:30 pm
Downtown Medical Mall
We have partnered with one of our season sponsors, Erlanger Health Systems, to bring this market directly to the Medical Mall. It gives their employees and patients the opportunity to purchase local produce, artisan foods, and crafts without having to leave the hospital. It has become a great market for our vendors and is our first year round market.
2018 Schedule TBD
New for the 2018 season, this market is made possible through the efforts of the Collegedale Tomorrow Foundation. We anticipate this market to become one of our strongest markets in the coming years. It will have much of the same atmosphere as the Chattanooga Market, with food trucks, live music, and themed events. Situated next to one one of the areas best parks, the imagination station, and being located directly on a greenway, this will be a very accessible, family friendly venue.
First Three Weekends of December
Chattanooga Convention Center
With nearly $500,000 in vendor sales in 2017, this our second strongest market series of the year. Taking up three full halls inside the Chattanooga Convention Center and with nearly 200 vendors, it has become the premiere gift buying experience in the Chattanooga region.
